I'm thinking that my mom will be able to walk through part of the park up to a point but then I would like her transported back to catch bus/boat to our hotel. Is there special transportation if she is in the back of the park and may need a ride?

It depends, Sherry.  If you're at the Magic Kingdom, your mom can ride aboard the Walt Disney World Railroad to the front of the park.  Heads up, though: even from there she'll still have a bit of a walk to board either bus or boat to your resort hotel and then even more of a walk to your room from the bus stop.  The other theme parks (Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios) don't have the same options for a "ride" back to the front of the park.  If you really think she's going to have trouble, I would advise looking into a wheelchair or scooter rental.  Inquire at Guest Services or check out a third party company and reserve in advance of your trip.  You might consider www.buenavistascooters.com.  Good luck!

I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists.
