I’m thinking of doing a split stay. What’s cheapest way to do this. Get all the tickets on first package and no tickets on 2nd package and what about dining. If I wanted counter ser on 1st and table ser on 2nd package can this be done? Looking for best way

    Hi Teresa,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Split stays, where you switch resort hotels in the middle of your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, are one of my family's favorite ways to visit Disney. We love having the chance to experience two resorts in one vacation, which means two incredibly-themed pools, more dining options to explore, and double the hidden Mickey hunting.

There can be great budget benefits to a split stay too, Teresa. One great trick is to stay at a budget-friendly resort for the first few days of your visit, and then end your stay at a resort that's more of a splurge. My tip is to always end your stay at the resort with more amenities – I like the feel of ending my stay on a luxurious note!

When planning a split stay, you will need to make two deposits at the time of booking – one for each reservation. Also, when making dining reservations and selecting FastPass+, you'll be able to make those reservations at the 180- and 60-day marks for each check-in date, and only for the length of stay attached to each reservation.

When it comes to adding a Disney Dining Plan, you can certainly select different Disney Dining Plans for each reservation. When choosing which dining plan to attach to each reservation, remember that your dining plan entitlements end at midnight on check-out day. As for tickets, in order to book a vacation package with a Disney Dining Plan, you will need to have tickets attached to both of your reservations.

Teresa, I recommend calling Walt Disney World Resort Reservations at (407) 939-1936, as they can answer any questions you have about planning a split stay and help you check for budget-friendly options and possibilities. I always find the reservations Cast Members super helpful when trying to put together the puzzle of my Disney vacation, because they can see availability, price dining options, and give personalized advice.

I hope this helps you get started in planning your extra-magical split stay! Please come back and see us if we can help with any more questions as you do your planning and Disney dreaming.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
