I'm thinking about doing the Jingle Jungle 5K in November. We have a family vacation booked at the Wilderness Lodge and would have to add a few days to get the race in. Is it worth it to stay at another resort and switch over because of transportation?

    Hi Erin!

The Jingle Jungle 5K is a great race!  It's also perfect to do as a family.

Whether or not you switch resorts would be purely up to you.  The buses from host resorts are a great convenience to runners.  But, traffic will not be a huge issue on the morning of the 5K, which is the main reason I always recommend staying at host resorts for morning half and full marathons.  5K's just don't require as many road closures, and with less runners, there is less traffic.

Basically, you could just arrange for a cab to take you to the expo at Wide World of Sports for your packet pick-up, and then to and from the race on race morning.  You would just need to decide which of the two would be more of a hassle.  (switching resorts or taking a cab twice)

Some people like to resort hop on their stays, so that may work well for you.  Personally, my family and I "move in" to our rooms when we get there and I wouldn't want to have to pack up and move any earlier than necessary!  (with our food, drinks, clothes in drawers, etc.)

I hope this helps answer your question.  Please let me know if you have any others!
