I'm thinking about doing the 5k in Jan 2013. I was trying to find out more info on the kid races. I have a 9 yrd old and a 6 yr old. I saw somehting about the Mickey Mile for 13 and younger, what exactly is the Mickey Mile about? And where are they held?

Hi Janice!  The 5K's are always a lot of fun at runDisney race weekends.  You should definitely plan to do it.

The Kids Races are great too!  My boys love them.  They all take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports that is located on Disney World property.  It is an amazing sports complex that my boys and I visit on each Disney trip!  The races will all be on a track except the Mickey Mile.  It will be all around the complex and end up at the same finish line on the track.  Here is a breakdown of the age divisions:

    • 12 months and under - Diaper Dash for crawlers
    • 1-3 years old - 100m dash
    • 4-6 years old - 200m dash
    • 7-8 years old - 400m dash
    • Mickey Mile - Open to all children 13 years old & under

On that weekend in January, there will be Kids Races available on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  The kids will each get a race bib, t-shirt, and medal.

You can find more information about it on the Disney World Marathon Weekend website.  Just click on "event details" or "schedule" in the left column.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!
