I'm thinking of buying the Genie+ service for a few days. Should I buy it ahead of time? And if I decide to add to to the remaining days, can I do that once I'm at Disney?

    Welcome to planDisney, Stephanie!

What's your excitement level for your upcoming Walt Disney World trip? I'm sure you're counting down the day until you arrive "home." The 50th Anniversary Celebration is well underway and there's so much to see and experience. Did you know that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opens on May 27 at EPCOT? Just in time for your trip! I recently had the pleasure of experiencing it for the first time and I can safely say that it's now my favorite attraction at Walt Disney World. You're going to love it!

Personally, I think getting Disney Genie+ in those mid-summer weeks is a smart choice. The parks tend to be fairly busy at the end of July/early August and so you won't regret being able to spend less time in line. There are basically two ways to purchase these "phenomenal cosmic powers."

The first way is to purchase Disney Genie+ for the entirety of your visit. To do this, you'll need to call "Existing Tickets" and speak directly to a Cast Member. They can make those wishes come true. Due to the high volume of callers, it might take some time to get a hold of somebody. Whenever I have to call, I usually find something else to do while I wait on hold, such as clean the dishes, fold the laundry, read a book, play a board game with my wife, etc.

The second option is to purchase Disney Genie+ on a day-to-day basis. You can do this very simply using the My Disney Experience Mobile App. On the day of your visit, just open up the app, click on the three lines at the bottom right corner of your screen, and then select "My Genie Day." There should be an option that says "Get Disney Genie+ for Today." Select it and you'll find a list of all the people in your party (these will be the people you've added via My Friends & Family). Select the members of your party that will use this service and then make your purchase.

This second option offers more flexibility. You might find that you don't need Disney Genie+ at Disney's Animal Kingdom. However, since there are more attractions at Magic Kingdom Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney Genie+ can be really handy.

I hope that's helpful, Stephanie! Thanks for stopping by planDisney.
