Hi Sarah,
Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question about dining at
Teppen Edo in the Japan Pavilion of Epcot. This restaurant offers a truly fascinating dining experience. The chefs who prepare your meal before your eyes are incredibly fun and entertaining. It will be an experience your family will long remember.
The chefs and servers at Walt Disney World Resort are world-famous for their commitment to supporting Guests with food sensitivities and other dietary concerns. While the
menu at Teppen Edo is extensive, it's never a bad idea to speak with the chef at the restaurant to see if he or she could prepare something that would be suitable for your husband. However, if it is best for him to skip the meal entirely, I'm sure your server will accommodate him. I have certainly been in a situation while on vacation where I had a table-service reservation but found myself with no appetite when time for dinner rolled around. I simply accompanied the rest of my party for the meal and ordered only a refreshing beverage. My server that night totally understood my situation.
My advice would be to
make your advance dining reservation for four online up to 180 days in advance of your arrival at Walt Disney World Resort. Then speak to your server when you are seated at Teppen Edo to explain your situation. If that evening your husband would prefer to walk through the Japan Pavilion and discover its many treasures while you dine, I'm sure that would be an option too. You would not have to pay the cancellation fee if only one person is removed from your party at the last minute.
Sending best wishes and pixie dust,
Jill
