I'm going to be taking my 7 yr old son and 5 yr old girl next week to Disney World. I'm concerned my son is going to miss out on things because my daughter is either too short or too scared to ride something. I don't want to disappoint him. Any suggestions

    Hi Heidi!

Your vacation is almost here!  I bet your kids are constantly asking "how many more days until Disney?"

First, don't worry about missing out on anything.  There is so much to see and do at Walt Disney World, you could spend a month and still not do everything.  That's why each vacation is special for my family - because each time we explore something new to us as well as visit our favorite attractions.

Have you heard about the Rider Switch Rider Switch service at Walt Disney World?  If you have another adult with you then one adult can wait with the non-riding child and then you can switch places without having to re-enter the line.  Click on the previous link to read all about the details.

If you are traveling as the only adult in your party then I have two suggestions.  The first would be to allow your 7 year old to ride alone on any of the rides he is tall enough to ride.  You should accompany him in the line with your other child and tell a Cast Member what you are doing so they can show you the "chicken exit".  Likely your child will be happy to ride alone if you go all the way to the boarding area with him and then wait at the exit.

Another option would be to use one of the Childcare Services at Walt Disney World for the younger child while you take the older child on a "date".  My kids have enjoyed the Children's Activity Centers so much that it's been a challenge to convince them to leave when we came to pick them up.  Both children would feel like they were getting special treatment.

    Have a MAGICAL vacation Heidi!
