I'm taking my 5 yr. old girl back to Disney and I'm wondering if she's ready for other rides like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, or the new Seven Dwarfs Train? Are they too much for that age? Any recommendations?

    Heigh-Ho Renata!

I just returned home from a Walt Disney World vacation (insert sad face here that we had to come home) with a 9-year-old, 7-year-old, and a 5-year-old. It all depends on how adventurous your daughter is. My 5-year-old loves to feel like a big girl, but she can't quite keep up with her big girl wishes yet. She loved the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and it was just enough thrill to keep her asking for more. She also loved the twists and turns of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, but there is a scene at the beginning that is very loud and dark that she did not care for.

My 7-year-old and 9-year-old, on the other hand, love the Triple Mountain Whammy. I am a ride chicken, so my 5-year-old probably inherited that from me. I love speed and turns, but please don't get me near big drops. I suggest testing the waters first with your daughter at the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, as that family coaster is a good starter coaster with incredible detail that will have you whistling a happy tune. Then you can gauge her reaction for other thrill attractions. I also let my children watch the drop at Splash Mountain and let them decide whether they want to try it or not. This way, they feel in control of their decision.

I wish you a magical, fantastical vacation!
