Hi Im taking my 14 yr old daughter in Aug. Just the 2 of us and have dining plan. How much would you think I should plan for spending $$. Im a single mom on a budget and could really use yalls expierence and opinions.

Hi, Andriana! What a wonderful mother-daughter trip you two will have. I can not think of a better place to spend some quality time together. You will be making some amazing memories. I am so excited for you!

I am often asked this question from my own friends and family who are headed to the Walt Disney World Resort. Unfortunately, it isn't one that can be answered with an exact dollar amount. You will want to bring some small bills for gratuities for mousekeeping, bell services, and gratuities if your Disney Dining Plan includes Table Service Restaurants that you will be dining at. I figure a few dollars a day for mousekeeping, and you can get a general idea of gratuity amounts for your servers by viewing the Walt Disney World Resort restaurant menus online and getting a general idea of an entree cost per restaurant and figuring 15%-20% of what your bill total would be if you were not using the Disney Dining Plan.

Your only other foreseeable expense is my personal favorite - souvenirs! There are so many options! Where else in the word would you be able to find Mickey Ears, Disney themed PANDORA jewelry and designer purses from Dooney & Bourke and Vera Bradley, kitchen decor and utensils, stuffed animals, chopsticks, makeup, clothing, turkey leg magnets, and enough who's-its and what's-its to make Ariel herself jealous! When planning for my own family, I decide on an affordable souvenir budget for each of us before we arrive. I then purchase Disney Gift Cards for everyone for that set amount. This works great with my boys. They know exactly how much they have to spend and each time they use their cards, the remaining balance prints out on the receipt so they can keep track. This works great!

    Have a magical trip, Andriana!

Hi, I’m Rachel! I am a “boy mom” to two rowdy little men at home and married to my high school sweetheart. I am fortunate enough that my prince charming loves all things Disney just as much as I do! For me, planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be just as magical as being there. It brings our family together as we dream, plan, and count down the days. I would be honored to help plan your visit and share in your family’s very own magic! Learn More About Rachel
