I'm taking our 12 year old and 14 year old to Disney World around Easter to see their sister in the parade. We're considering staying at the Dolphin resort because of its closeness to Epcot. What's your impression of that resort?

    Hi Carol,

The Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort is located in a phenomenally convenient location, especially if you plan to visit Epcot or Disney's Hollywood Studios frequently.  You could walk to either of these theme parks in less than thirty minutes or you could take the complimentary Friendship Boats to Epcot or Disney's Hollywood Studios.  The Dolphin is a sophisticated conference resort with plenty of dining options in the resort and nearby.  The rooms are well-appointed and the service I experienced there was very good.  It's also quite convenient that the resort has a car rental desk on site.

The only think this resort lacks, in my opinion, is the Disney theming you'll find at Disney-owned resorts.  For instance, Mickey will not call to wake you in the morning if you request a wake-up call.  Guests at the Dolphin cannot take advantage of Disney's Magical Express Service from Orlando International Airport. The overall theme of the resort is not as clear or well-executed as other resorts on Disney property.  It really is a pleasant place to stay while visiting the most magical place on earth.  However, if you're hoping to experience Disney magic 24/7 during your stay, I would look instead at a Disney-owned resort.

Best wishes as you plan your spring adventure!
