I'm taking my son to WDW for the first time for his 6th birthday in Feb. I was wondering if be our guest was more for girls or if boys would be interested too. I've heard getting a dining reservation can be competitive, can I book at 12:01am via web?

    Hello, Tiffany,

I think one of the best things about Be Our Guest Restaurant is that it appeals to such a wide audience of guests with its varied decor and theming. The Grand Ballroom is quite jaw-dropping with its chandeliers; and if you look out the windows, you may even see it snowing.  While there is a more feminine feel about this room, my sons have never commented about feeling out of place there.  The Castle Gallery is probably the most neutral as it doesn't have as much theming, so it, too, works well with everyone.  The West Wing is my sons' favorite room.  It is a smaller and darker room where there is thunder and lightning.  It is also the room that houses the enchanted rose and a magical portrait.  If you do an internet search for images of the different rooms, you can see how different they are and if your son would like them.

It is a popular restaurant, and I would encourage you to book online when you are 180 days out.  If you are staying at a Disney resort, you will be able to book 10 days worth of reservations when you are 180 days out from your arrival date.  To book online, you can begin doing this at 6:00 AM EST. You can also begin calling 407-WDW-DINE at 7:00 AM EST.  To help determine which day to make your reservations, pscalculator.net is an independent website that can assist you.

As a back-up restaurant, Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney's Wilderness Lodge (a short boat ride from the Magic Kingdom) is an absolute hoot!  If your family and son don't mind loud noises and sometimes being the center of attention, it could be a great place to celebrate his birthday.  When we celebrated a birthday there, our waiter asked all the girls to come over and sing to our son. It was hilarious!

Wishing your son an early happy birthday!  -Kara
