    I'm taking a friend for his birthday and its our first time next month. If i call the hotel ahead of time when checking in .. and tell them that would they be able to set up a little something special? like a surprise welcome or birthday wish?

    How wonderful that you are taking your friend to Walt Disney World to celebrate his birthday!!  HERE is the link of how you can customize his celebration.  There are so many options. You can have balloons or flowers waiting in his room or you can order a special birthday cake to have at one of the many restaurants.
