Im taking a Disney Cruise on May26 for my daughter 6th bday. Last day of cruise our flight is late at night, what can we do around port canaveral. Should we visit a WDW park? Need recommendations. This is our 1st cruise and 1st time at port canaveral

    Ahoy, Brizna!

Congratulations on your first cruise -- and happy birthday to your precious princess! Our family recently returned from a Bahamian voyage aboard Disney Cruise Line to Port Canaveral, and just like you, our flight was in the evening on Disembarkation Day.

We took transportation back to a Walt Disney World (WDW) resort which was closest to Downtown Disney and asked to store our luggage with the bell captain there. We then spent the afternoon shopping and had a great lunch at Downtown Disney. We took a taxi back to the airport before our flight. If you consider Downtown Disney, you may want to make your daughter an appointment for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and a special dinner at the Rain Forest or T-Rex Cafes.

If you have more than just a few hours to spend, I suggest buying a park ticket and enjoying the day at your favorite WDW park. You'll definitely want to either store your luggage in a locker or at a nearby resort and take a taxi back to the airport so that you can leave without any stops at other resorts. That will maximize your time at the park.

There are other things to do in and around the Port Canaveral/Cocoa Beach area. Yet, my daughter was six once -- and nothing beats heading to a WDW park or resort if you're going to be that close! Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
