I’m taking my 3 boys for the first time in March 2018 and on of my sons will be turning 14 while we’re there. I want him to have the best experience for his bday even though he’s much older. Does anyone have any suggestions

    Hi Laura,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We adore celebrating birthdays at the Walt Disney World Resort!

My first suggestion would be to consider his interests and then take a look at the Enchanting Extras Collection. He might enjoy any one of the Nature Experiences like Dine with an Animal Specialist. On our last visit, we did the Caring for Giants tour. While it was good for our 10-year old girls, your 14-year old might want a more in depth experience. Having said that, getting to see backstage was certainly a highlight of the trip for our girls.

Or, you could do a Star Wars day at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Ride Star Tours - The Adventures Continue, hang out with Chewbacca at Star Wars Launch Bay and, keep the Sci-Fi fun going with lunch at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater restaurant.

If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, be sure to note the birthday celebration on your room reservation. Also, make a note of it on any dining reservations. On my husband's last birthday, we typically arrived to dining reservations at least 30 minutes in advance and requested a window table. We absolutely love 'Ohana. Make a reservation for a time just before the start of the Happily Ever After fireworks show and then watch the show during dinner. Also do not forget the possibilities at Disney Springs. T-REX is just a cool place to eat and the LEGO store might still inspire your son to build.

Laura, finally, consider ordering one of the Cakes at Walt Disney World Resort. I love the Mickey Mouse-shaped cakes. After all, you simply must have birthday cake!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
