Hi Kelly,
How exciting to be planning your first trip to Walt Disney World for you and your little one! Spending a day at
Disney's Animal Kingdom will be so much fun for the two of you.
I recommend that you start your day with a ride on Kilimanjaro Safaris. As you ride through the savannah, you might see so many animals, including zebras, giraffes, and elephants, all in very natural habitats. After your safari, I suggest a ride on the Wildlife Express Train out to Rafiki's Planet Watch. This area includes Affection Section, which is an interactive petting yard with some rare, domesticated breeds. When she was a toddler, my daughter absolutely loved going to Affection Section because she could touch the animals. She loved to brush them and would spend so much time simply fascinated by the animals.
You might also consider some of the shows at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Both Finding Nemo - The Musical and Festival of the Lion King are amazing, colorful shows including music. You know your child best - these shows can be loud, so if your little one is frightened of loud noises, these might not be a great choice.
Finally, consider a ride on TriceraTop Spin. This gentle ride allows your child and you to board a dinosaur and fly. Nearby is The Boneyard, where your little one can play on a dinosaur dig-themed playground.
I hope that these give you some ideas for your day at Disney's Animal Kingdom, Kelly. Have a wonderful time, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
