planDisney! That sounds like such a fun trip! And Rider Switch will be the perfect service to use in this case. First, let’s go over how Rider Switch works without Lightning Lanes, then we’ll add those in.
Typically, when using
Rider Switch, your group will break up into two. After chatting with a Cast Member at the entrance to the queue to set up Rider Switch, the first group will wait for the attraction via the standby queue while the second group waits outside the attraction with your little one. Once that group is done, the second group will get to access the attraction through the Lightning Lane, and it will be the first group’s turn to wait with the little one in your party. That way, there’s only one longer wait time!
It’s good to note that while you’re waiting for your turn, you don’t need to wait right outside the attraction. I like to use that time for a bathroom or snack break, ride a nearby attraction that our little one is big enough for, or catch some of the fun entertainment around the park.
Now, if you’re using Rider Switch with
Lightning Lanes, it will work similarly, but both groups will be able to access the attraction via the Lightning Lane instead of the first group needing to wait in the standby queue. I usually only use Rider Switch with our Lightning Lanes if we’re getting close to the end of our return time, and I’m not sure both groups would be able to make it through the Lightning Lane in time.
When using Rider Switch with Lightning Lanes, everyone in your party who’s riding will need to have a Lightning Lane booked for that attraction, no matter if they’re in the first or second group. And remember to talk with a Cast Member before entering the queue to get Rider Switch all set up.
