I’m struggling to decide between a resort view room and resort view studio. Why would I pick studio over room when studio is in a separate building from the main building? Also since resort studio is DVC does that mean no complimentary housekeeping?

Hi, Emily! Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for bringing your question to us about the difference between room types. Let's take a look.

You are correct in that all Deluxe Villas, including studios are located within Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resorts. As you probably have already figured out, these are available to book through Disney just like any other hotel room, and when you do, housekeeping is included just like it would be for a regular room. Villas booked with DVC points are on a limited housekeeping schedule, but cash bookings are not.

There are some benefits to choosing a villa instead of a hotel room. I'm not sure which Disney Resorts Collection Hotel you're looking at, but some of the deluxe studio villas are larger than regular hotel rooms. When I've stayed in a deluxe studio villa, I've enjoyed having additional amenities like a kitchenette including a microwave, plates, silverware, toaster, pantry area, dish detergent, dish towels and an actual small refrigerator as opposed to beverage coolers that many hotel rooms have. Since you mentioned staying in the main building, think about booking your stay at Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge or Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House. Both of those resorts have studios in the main building. I'm a DVC owner at Copper Creek, and being inside the main lodge is one of the many reasons I chose this as my home resort.

If it's within your budget to upgrade your room category to a 1-bedroom villa, even more amenities will be available to you. You'll have a full kitchen and laundry in addition to even more space.

All that being said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a regular hotel room as well. It all depends on what you value and what's in your budget.

I'm not sure when you're planning to visit, but there are some really great special offers available, especially this summer. In fact, there are many fun things happening this summer, including free admission to a Disney Water Park on the day you check in to your Disney resort.

Emily, I hope this has been helpful. You won't go wrong with either room category choice, and I hope you pick the best option for your needs. If you have any other planning questions, please come back and visit us again here at planDisney.

    Have a magical trip!
