Hi Michelle,
I am so excited to hear you have an upcoming stay planned at
Disney's Old Key West Resort. This is a true hidden gem at Walt Disney World, and one of our family's favorite places to stay. To me, what makes this place so special is the beautiful pastel shades and tropical theming throughout the Resort, the relaxed vibe, and close, easy water launch transportation to nearby Disney Springs.
Michelle, it sounds like you have a wide age range within the group of family members who are travelling with you. In the event that anyone in your group is using strollers, wheelchairs, or Electronic Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs), you may want to make a request to be placed in a ground floor Villa, or otherwise, in a building served by elevators.
If you want to be close to the main lobby and check-in area, Sandcastle Pool (the main larger pool), restaurants and marketplace area, you may wish to request to be located close to the Hospitality House. In fact, if you are booking your room using
Disney Vacation Club points, there is a separate room category for "Close to Hospitality House" which will ensure your room will be located here.
While my personal preference has always been to stay close to the Hospitality House area, I know plenty others who enjoy the more quiet areas on the outskirt of the Resort. The Turtle Pond area has always been popular, with a closeby quiet pool, playground and canteen, Turtle Shack Poolside Snacks.
Remember that when making location requests, Disney will do their very best to honor them if at all possible. However, requests are subject to availability restrictions and are not guaranteed.
Michelle, all the best as you continue planning your upcoming stay in tropical paradise at Disney's Old Key West Resort!
Trish
