I’m staying off property, in order to enter the TRON virtual queue at 7am, do I have to be on the Walt Disney World “campus”?

Hop aboard your Lightcycle, Tim, because it's time to enter the Grid! Welcome to planDisney, and thanks for this great question. You'll be at Walt Disney World Resort in a flash, so let's talk about how you can experience one of the newest thrill attractions.

TRON Lightcycle / Run is a high-speed race that will make you think you're flying over Tomorrowland. This is one of my favorite attractions! The only two ways you can currently experience it are by joining the complimentary virtual queue or purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane entry.

All guests with valid admission (and theme park reservations, if required) can try to join the virtual queue at 7:00 AM. If you are not staying at a Disney Resort Hotel, you can still join the virtual queue, so my best tip is to set your alarm and hit that button at 7:00 AM sharp. The virtual queue typically fills up in seconds! I always allow a few extra minutes to wake up, ensure my app is open, and confirm my party. Tap "Refresh" a split second before 7:00, and then be ready to tap "Join Virtual Queue." If you're successful, you will be assigned a boarding group, so get ready to race!

If you don't get a boarding group that morning, you can try to join a second complimentary virtual queue at 1:00 PM, but you must be scanned into Magic Kingdom Park to join this one. Some guests wait and attempt to join the afternoon queue, hoping their boarding group will be called after dark. The outdoor portion of this attraction is pretty amazing, and it glows impressively at night.

The final way to enjoy TRON is to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane entry. Guests registered at Disney Resort Hotels can make this purchase at 7:00 AM, while guests who aren't staying on property must wait until the listed opening time for Magic Kingdom Park. You do not have to physically be on property to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane entry, but resort guests do have an advantage since spots often sell out quickly.

A bonus tip is that with some luck and quick work, you could possibly ride twice by joining the virtual queue and purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane. The advantage to buying entry is that you will have some choice in your return window time. My dream day would be to ride once during the daylight and again after dark.

Tim, I hope you ride for Team Blue on your upcoming visit! The attraction host says, "In a Lighcycle battle, there are winners and losers." I know you'll be a winner! Please stop by planDisney anytime.

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
