Hi Cassandra, and welcome back to planDisney!
It’s so great to see your name pop up again. There have been a couple of name changes, from Disney Moms Panel and Disney Parks Moms Panel to planDisney, since your last visit, but one thing that hasn’t changed is our commitment to providing you with the same trusted advice to help you plan your Disney vacations. I’d be happy to help answer your question about your upcoming stay at
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
My family and I just returned from a stay at this iconic resort, and I have to say, it continues to be one of the most elegant and relaxing places to call “home” during a Walt Disney World vacation. Some of my favorite things? The leisurely walking path to Magic Kingdom Park, monorail access that lets you bop over to EPCOT or swing by Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for dining or exploring, and of course, multiple viewing spots for
Happily Ever After. My personal favorite? Watching from the dock of
Narcoossee’s with a to-go cocktail in hand. It's the perfect way to end the evening in style.
To answer your question, the private poolside patios near the Alice in Wonderland-themed splash pad are no longer offered. During our recent stay, and after reconfirming with the cast member, I can share that those rentals have been phased out. In their place, you’ll now find traditional pool loungers, additional shade options, and an oversized chess set nearby. While we only spent a little time at the splash pad (just long enough for the Mad Hatter to give us a refreshing hatful of water!), we noticed that seating was plentiful, likely because most Guests head straight for the Beach Pool or Courtyard Pool areas.
If you’re hoping to snag a good seat near the aquatic play area, I suggest grabbing breakfast from
Gasparilla Island Grill and staking out your spot early. It’s a great way to let your little ones burn off some energy while you relax nearby, coffee in hand, soaking in the ambiance.
If you’re looking for
poolside cabana options, you’ll still find those available for reservation at the Beach Pool. These come with shaded seating, ceiling fans, a fruit tray, towel service, and a dedicated Cast Member to make your day a bit relaxing. It’s a great option if you're planning to spend a full day poolside.
Cassandra, if you have any other questions, whether it’s about
Lightning Lane Multi Pass strategy, ideas for your non-park days, or anything else as you plan your return, I hope you’ll come back to planDisney and
send me a note directly. I’d love to help however I can.
See you real soon!
