I'm staying at Disney's All-Star Music Resort for my son's birthday. Can I decorate our room door or window? If so, what decorations and materials are allowed, and which are prohibited?

Hi Ezequiel, and thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. I can’t think of a better place to celebrate your son’s birthday than at the Most Magical Place on Earth! So let’s chat about decorating your room for this special occasion.

While there don’t seem to be any specific guidelines against decorating resort hotel room doors or windows in the Disney World Resort Property Rules, the policy may vary by resort hotel. And as always, it’ll be up to the Cast Members to determine what’s allowed for the safety of other guests, so you may want to double-check with the front desk when you arrive at All-Star Music Resort.

A few things to avoid as you plan your decorations. The Property Rules prohibit banners, flags, signs, and other materials for commercial purposes or demonstrations, as well as anything obstructing public areas like stairways, hallways, patios, etc.

I’d also recommend choosing decorations that won’t damage anything. This might include window clings or hanging decorations with a suction cup hook. Many doors at the All-Star Resorts are magnetic, but the window is a safer place for decorations. Most rooms at All-Star Music Resort also have a window with a small ledge on the inside, and this is a fun spot to put toys or other decorations that can sit or stand on their own. For my sister’s birthday, I made little party hats for her plushes, so this would be a cute idea if you go with the window toys!

And, before I go, I wanted to highlight all the extra happenings going on in August for Cool KIDS’ SUMMER! My family is most excited for the special character experiences, like singing and dancing with Jessie, Woody, and Bullseye at Jessie’s Roundup in Magic Kingdom. And if your son loves Bluey, you won’t want to miss the new Bluey’s Wild World at Animal Kingdom!

I’m wishing your son the best birthday trip ever at Disney World next month! And if you have any other questions, you’re always welcome back at planDisney.
