Hi Tiffany,
Welcome to planDisney! Thank you for dropping by with a great question!
The
Holidays at Walt Disney World Resort is now my family's favorite time of year to visit! The parks and resorts are gorgeous. The characters are dressed in their holiday best and the joy of the season greets us every time we visit at this time of year. I will caution; however, it is BUSY. We love to spend Christmas day in Magic Kingdom, but we hit the park early, take a break around noon and then head back in the evening (understanding that the park could reach capacity at some point during the day).
If you have already booked a vacation package, make sure that package or resort hotel and theme park tickets are linked in your
My Disney Experience account. And make sure you have
Disney Park Pass system reservations linked. Since the parks and resorts can get super crowded at this time of year,
advanced dining reservations are highly recommended. We always make dining reservations at this time of year and we typically do so for breakfast, lunch, and dinner although we do order a few quick-service breakfasts from the resort hotel room on days we relax at the resort.
I would also consider transportation options quite carefully. We prefer to stay at a resort hotel with multiple transportation options at this time of year because it is so crowded. Our favorite resort hotels are within walking distance to one or more theme parks, have access to
Walt Disney World® Monorail Transportation or the
Disney Skyliner. Last year we stayed at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and from there we could walk to Magic Kingdom. The year prior we stayed at Disney's BoardWalk Inn and from there, we could walk to Disney's Hollywood Studios and EPCOT.
Tiffany, allow yourself plenty of time to travel from place to place during this time of year. Use the "Get Directions" feature in the My Disney Experience Mobile App to see transportation options and estimated transit times between locations. Even with the crowds, we adore this time of year!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
