Hi Brian, and welcome to planDisney.
Oh boy! There is so much to love about a breakfast visit to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. I just love the peaceful and picturesque grounds at this resort, and there are so many activities and pieces of Disney history available to visiting Guests. All of this, plus a breakfast skillet at
Trail's End Restaurant? Can I get a "yee-haw?!"
As a Guest at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you'll be welcome to park for free at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. Here's the catch, though: you will need to park in the parking lot at the resort entrance and then take Disney Bus Transportation to Trail's End Restaurant. I've done this, and it takes about 15-30 minutes depending on the bus schedule and your timing. The internal bus loop is fun to ride because you'll see decorated campsites as you travel to your destination. We visited a few days before Easter and saw a whole line of Stormtroopers led by Darth Vader...all wearing bunny ears. The Guests at
The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort really go all out with the decorations, and it's tons of fun.
Another note, Brian: I've heard that Fort Wilderness has been restricting parking as part of the
phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort. I strongly recommend checking with a Cast Member at
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort to see if you will be permitted to park at Fort Wilderness for your dining reservation. I think you'll be fine, but I feel better asking you to double-check since there have been so many changes lately.
If you choose to leave the car at home, another option is to use Disney Bus Transportation from your resort to Magic Kingdom Park and then take a boat to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. The boat launch is close to Pioneer Hall and Trail's End Restaurant, and the boat ride is lovely.
Enjoy your Mickey waffles! After breakfast, I highly recommend walking over to the
Tri-Circle-D Ranch to see the Disney horses. Cinderella's ponies are there, and my family loved seeing the intricate and beautiful Dragon Calliope, which was purchased by Walt Disney himself. It's a wonderful hidden gem at the Walt Disney World Resort!
