I'm staying at the AK Villas in January with my kids (5 + 2) and am trying to plan pool time since I hear the pools at AK are AMAZING...am I fooling myself to think we can spend time at the pools in Jan? Will it be too cold? Are the pools heated? Thanks!

    Hi Jenny,

I agree that the pools at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas are amazing!  At Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House, Uzima Pool features a zero-depth entry and a fun waterslide.  At Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village, Samawati Springs Pool also includes a zero-depth entry and a waterslide.  At Kidani Village, you can also find Uwanja Camp, a really fun water play area designed for children and located adjacent to the pool.  Given the ages of your children, I bet that they will love Uwanja Camp!  I remember my daughter, when she was in preschool, spending hours on the play equipment in Uwanja Camp.  She had so much fun.

The pools at Walt Disney World are heated, which is good news for you!  That said, the average high temperature in Orlando in January is 71 degrees Fahrenheit, which is a little cool for my taste for swimming.  However, once your children see the pools, my guess is that they will want to try them out!  I recommend that as you get closer to your vacation, check the weather for your stay.  Choose the warmest and sunniest day or days to spend some time at the pool.  Be sure to grab lots of towels so that you can swaddle your children (and yourself!) quickly when you get out of the pool.

I hope that this information helps, Jenny.  Have a great time planning your vacation, and please feel free to ask if you have any further questions!
