I’m starting to plan my first trip to Disney. It will be my 10yr old daughter and I. I’m getting overwhelmed...where to start? Recommendations for first time guests?

    Hi Teri,

Oh, please don't be overwhelmed! While there are many moving parts to a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, we are here to guide you every step of the way. Just focus on the magic you and your daughter will experience when that special day arrives and your vacation will begin.

You should start your planning by deciding on the dates of your trip. Check work, school and family schedules to make sure you will visit at a time that works well for both of you. Then focus on your budget. Once you decide how much you have to spend, consider transportation options. Will you drive or fly? If you decide to fly, download "Hopper" or another flight price app on your phone so that you'll receive alerts when competitive flight prices become available.

Once you've decided on dates, a budget, and transportation, then the real fun begins! Make a reservation at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel. There are hotels suited to any budget. Spend some time researching the options online, or simply submit a follow-up question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel if you need a suggestion. Personally, I would recommend Disney's Wilderness Lodge. It is a beautifully themed place located in the middle of the magic!

Decide how many days you'd like to spend in the Disney theme parks and discuss whether the Disney Water Parks are on your to-do list. Then buy the appropriate tickets.

Finally, make advance dining reservations 180 days before you arrive and FastPass+ reservations 60 days prior to your vacation. Make a list with your daughter of rides you two hope to experience and let that list guide your FastPass+ reservations.

You can do this, and we are always here to help. Submit as many questions as you want to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

    Best wishes,
