Moms, I'm spending the Dark Side Half Marathon weekend in WDW. How hard will it be to get from Coronado Springs to Epcot for the International Flower and Garden Festival? I arrive at 6am. Will I have traffic getting from the airport to the resort?

    Hey there, Rochelle!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I’m so excited you are planning a visit during Star Wars™ Half Marathon - The Dark Side, and planning to visit Epcot during one of my favorite festivals, the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. I hope your weekend is filled with galactic fun and blooming adventures.

Rochelle, some of my Disney Parks Moms Panel friends just ran the latest runDisney marathon and I was lucky enough to be there chEARing them on! As and Orlando local, I braved the roads and, although there was a tad more traffic than usual, it wasn’t anything to write home about. Traffic delays were mostly near the marathon routes. Not so much outside the resort area.

If you are driving your own car, make sure to check for detours on the roads closest to the Marathon routes. Disney does a wonderful job making sure the guest experience is not affected by these changes and everything is always well marked and easy to navigate, even with the rerouting and detours.

Rule of thumb, I always recommend a good 90-minutes to travel between locations inside the resort. This usually allows for bus wait times and potential traffic delays. For good measure, maybe tag an additional 10-15 minutes during your visit, just to make sure you don’t end up rushing. I find it best to allow extra time so I don’t find myself stressing during a vacation.

Pro-tip! On your My Disney Experience mobile app you can use the search tool to locate your destination, select get directions, and the app will give you a guesstimate on travel time. It’s a super handy tool I use often during my visits.

I hope this info is useful! Be sure to come back and see us again soon for any additional questions or planning tips.

    TTFN- Ta ta for now,
