I'm 5'10'' and I am a size 26W. I'm bringing my 5-y-o for her first visit this summer, and I've had issues fitting in the past. What happens if I don't fit on a ride, but she still wants to go? It's just the two of us.

Hi, Katherine, and welcome to planDisney! I'm so excited to hear you're bringing your daughter for her first visit to Walt Disney World. The two of you will create so many core memories together! Seeing the magic through her eyes will be a brand-new experience for you, too. Be sure to stop by Guest Services and pick up a complimentary First Visit button for her.

I'm glad you brought your question to us because some attractions can be tricky when a child wants to ride, but the only adult either doesn't want to or isn't able. Let's explore your options.

According to the Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules, children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by someone age 14 years or older, which means it will be a few more years until your daughter is able to ride alone. For this visit, since it's just the two of you, consider dedicating your park time to shows, attractions and experiences you both can enjoy. There is so much to see and do, and even after visiting for almost 40 years, I still find new things to love during each visit. If there are attractions you know won't work for you, you could think about saving those for when she's older.

Between character meet and greets, shows, parades and fireworks, you could almost skip rides altogether and still have a fantastic time. Speaking of parades, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away is a must do, in my opinion. It's the newest nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom and is full of wonderment and so much magic! A favorite show of mine is Festival of the Lion King at Disney's Animal Kingdom. It just never gets old!

Beyond that, I have heard of Guests making friends with other Guests in the parks who are willing to accompany a younger child on certain attractions. I've also heard of Guests conducting an online search for local nanny services for a day. However, I'm personally not comfortable recommending either of these options for safety reasons, yet I wanted to mention them in case they are ideas you would consider.

Since you're planning on visiting this summer, did you know that you get free admission to a Disney Water Park the day you check in to your Disney Resorts Collection Hotel? That's just one of the many awesome things happening this summer. There are some great special offers, too.

Katherine, I hope you and your daughter have a fantastic time together and that you create lifelong memories. If you have any other questions, please bring them back to us here at planDisney.

    Have a magical trip!
