Hi, I'm a single Mom of a 6 yr. old lil girl this is the 1st time i can afford making a trip to take her to WDW for her upcoming birthday in July. But i am so overwelmed where to begin; where to stay & how to bring everything in a budget that i can aff

    Hi Jessieanin!

Planning a first trip to Walt Disney World can definitely be overwhelming.  Several panelists recently answered a question about planning a first trip; you can see the various viewpoints here.

Basically, the first step is to determine when you would like to go and how long you would like to stay.  After that, the most important question is where to stay.  Disney Value Resorts are the least expensive; I personally prefer Pop Century but the three All-Star resorts are nice as well.  By staying on property, you get extra perks such as Disney's Magical Express to and from the airport, Extra Magic Hours, and you can use Disney Transportation to get around Walt Disney World.

With a 6 year old, you should consider making an advanced dining reservation for a Character Dining Experience.  I recommend Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Resort, Princess Storybook Dining in Norway in Epcot, and Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner at 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian.  Making advanced dining reservations is critical if you want to eat in the Table Service (full service) restaurants at Walt Disney World.

I also recommend ordering the free planning DVD and picking up the book "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  It has won eight national awards and is full of color photos.  It's a great book for first time visitors.

Hopefully this will get you started.  Write back if you have any more questions!
