I'm a single mom working p/t and I need to plan a vacation on a small budget but would like to have a nice time with my 12 yr old son. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks a lot.

Hi Victoria! Thanks for the question! As a single mom to a 12 year old girl, I can totally relate! You'll be surprised at how affordable a Disney vacation can be. Here are a few things to get you started.

    - Select your dates. I always choose based on prices, as long as taking him out of school isn't an issue. Be sure to check out the Special Offers page of the Disney World website often, as they offer some amazing deals.

    - Stick to the value resorts. We love them. If your son is a sports fan, then All Star Sports is for you! All are great, but for us, Pop Century is another favourite. You will enjoy all of the Disney perks, including Magical Express bus service from the airport and transportation while on site, and the prices can't be beat!

    - Save money on food. Bring snacks, cereal bars and other treats from home. Eating breakfast in your room saves both time and money.

    - Consider the Disney Dining Plan. There are great Quick Service dining spots, and the savings are great!

This should help get you started. Please write back with any other questions Victoria!
