Ahoy, Andrea!
I'm so happy to hear you'll be going on a Disney Cruise Line vacation with your son and your parents. Disney Cruise Line is the perfect place to spend a multi-generational vacation because there truly is something for everyone! You'll be making the most magical memories with your family, and I'm so excited for you.
I have good news for you! As long as the adult traveling is listed on the child's State-issued official birth certificate, there is no additional paperwork needed. You should have no issues boarding the ship with your little one, as long as you have
proper documentation for yourself and an official birth certificate for your son. Now all you need to concentrate on is all the fun you're going to have on your Disney Cruise adventure!
I encourage you to check out the
Youth Clubs during Open House hours on your first afternoon on the ship. Young cruisers, ages 3-12, can visit the clubs at no additional charge, at any time you choose, throughout your sailing. My kids have enjoyed spending time in the clubs through the years - all the way from "it's a small world" nursery! up to Vibe, the teen club. Each club is specifically designed for a certain age group, with well-trained Youth Counselors that give the kids undivided attention. Your son would probably fall into the age group for the
Oceaneer Club and
Oceaneer Lab - such fun spaces, and they plan some really great activities to keep the kids engaged and entertained.
I hope this helps with your planning - have a magical day! - Diane W.
