Ahoy Emilie,
Thank you so much for cruising over to planDisney as you begin to prepare for your upcoming voyage. The itineraries offered out of Port Canaveral are absolutely fantastic and I hope that you are already imagining yourself relaxing in paradise!
I sail out of Port Canaveral often and find it most convenient to fly into the Orlando International Airport (airport code: MCO). This airport is approximately one hour from the port, depending upon traffic conditions. For added ease, I like to purchase the
ground transfers offered between Orlando International Airport and Port Canaveral that are available on Embarkation and Debarkation days only. When you purchase this ground transfer, you'll be traveling on a comfortable and convenient Disney Cruise Line bus that pulls up right at the port. There's nothing quite like the moment when you spot the Disney Cruise ship ready and waiting for you at port! You may add these optional ground transfers to your reservation by calling 800-951-3532.
If you plan to arrive on the day that your cruise embarks, it is recommended that your flight lands no later than 1:45 PM on Embarkation Day so that you can use the ground transfers offered with an appropriate amount of time to travel to the port. If you are like me, and feel more comfortable arranging for a flight that arrives one day before your cruise embarks, you may be interested to know that the Orlando International Airport houses the Hyatt Regency Hotel. It makes for a great pre-cruise stay and is very convenient for the ground transfer from the airport to the port.
If I'm being honest, my absolute favorite
pre-cruise stay would be at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel. In that case, you can also arrange for ground transportation directly from your hotel to Port Canaveral.
Whatever you chose to do, I'm excited for you to be planning for this cruise vacation. Please return to planDisney if you have any more questions that come to mind.
Happy planning and smooth sailing!
Adrianna
