Ahoy and welcome to planDisney, Kayla! With your cruise so close, you must be getting so excited! I love all the milestones that tell me my time on a Disney Cruise Line ship is approaching. Now with your online check-in complete, it's time to start the packing list.
Picky eaters? I have been there, done that. Unfortunately for your daughter, I have never seen purple grape juice on board. I checked with Cast Members and they said the same. On the ship, you can find all kinds of juices: orange, apple, grapefruit, cranberry, pineapple, prune, tomato, V8, and Clamato juices. Sadly, for your princess, no grape.
I do have a few options for you. You can bring bottled/packaged beverages with you when you board the ship. The drinks have to
be in factory-sealed packaging, comply with the list of restricted items, and be in your carry-on luggage, which can be up to 9"x14"x22" (think the size of a suitcase you can put in overhead on a plane).
My other idea is to use the magic of Disney to distract and enchant her. I know, I know, it's not an easy task. But as I said, "I have been there." On one cruise, one of mine would only eat broccoli, plain, unsalted, nothing else. It was quite unusual in the dining rooms with all of the amazing selections to bring this five-year-old a plate of broccoli - every single night. He is now a tween. On our most recent cruise, I told our dining team, "He is going to order plain pasta with sauce on the side and plain broccoli every night." They said, "No." (Something I had never heard before on a Disney Cruise, but they had the tone of disbelief, were smiling, and had a plan.) They promised him he could get pasta in less than a minute, if he tried something else and didn't like it. They made suggestions from across the menu to come up with special ideas just for him. By the end of the cruise, he was ordering off the whole menu, steaks and even duck. Now, I know this was my dining team and their connection with my child. But they made him feel like his choices were magical. On your first night at dinner, you could tell your dining team your daughter only likes purple grape juice and ask if they could find out what Mickey Mouse (or her favorite princess or character) would recommend just for her, and get her to try something new. I never would have thought my child would eat anything outside of his overly limited range, but we were on a Disney Cruise and they made him feel like he was being treated extra special.
Disney Cruise Line is unlike any other vacation. I hope leaving the daily routines and schedules behind and setting off to where the sky meets the sea has her so captivated by the magic, she does not miss a thing.
Please come back to
planDisney with any other questions. Even when the answer is "No," like my beloved servers (whom we have requested specifically for our next cruise and hope to be reunited with), we have ideas and are happy to help.
Bon Voyage!
