Ahoy, Daphne!
Welcome aboard planDisney! How exciting that you and your crew are getting ready to sail on the
all-new Disney Adventure. A brand-new ship always brings a little extra buzz of excitement, and watching all the sneak peeks and videos coming out has felt a bit like opening night for a brand-new Disney attraction. There are so many new spaces and experiences to explore!
Your question about the
Character Call is a great one. I hopped into one of my own reservations to check things out, and I noticed the same thing you did; the Adventure does not currently appear in the dropdown menu for a Character Call. To be sure, I reached out to a friendly Disney Cruise Line Cast Member, and at the moment there is not yet a way to officially book a Character Call specifically tied to the Adventure. Hopefully that option will be added in the future as the ship continues to roll out more of its offerings.
Now, I know that is probably not the magical answer you were hoping for, so I did a little experimenting to see if there might still be a way to make the surprise happen. I set up two different calls with our pals Mickey and Goofy, selecting other ships (the Wish and the Magic) just to see how the messages worked. The good news is that neither call actually mentioned the ship name during the message, which opens the door to a fun workaround.
Here’s what I discovered during my testing:
• When I selected Goofy, I chose the Bahamas as the destination, and he did reference the Bahamas during the call.
• When I selected Mickey, I chose “Other” as the location, and the message did not mention any specific destination.
So if you’re hoping to still surprise your kids with a call from one of their favorite Disney pals, you might try selecting another ship from the dropdown menu and choosing “Other” as the location. That should help keep the message more general so it still works for
your Adventure sailing.
Once you complete the setup, you’ll receive a phone number and a special access code. When you’re ready to surprise your kids, simply call the number, enter the code, and you’ll hear a quick greeting prompting you to press “1” to start the message from your Disney friend. It’s a really fun way to kick off the countdown to your cruise, especially when the call comes from Mickey himself.
I hope this helps you add a little extra magic to
your sailing preparations. Surprising your kids with a call from Mickey, Mickey and Minnie, or Goofy is a wonderful way to build excitement before you even step onboard. Before long you’ll be hearing the ship’s horn, spotting Captain Minnie, and beginning an adventure that feels worthy of its name.
Sea ya real soon as springtime magic begins to ripple across the water,
Dustin
