Hello! I'm running my first Princess 1/2 in 2013. We are bringing the family...is it better to do our family park days before or after the race?

    Hi Shannon!

This is a great question.  I think it's probably a personal decision, but here is what I suggest.

I prefer doing our vacation AFTER the race.  I may be a little sore, but walking around the parks is a great way to loosen up and keep from getting too stiff.  Also, before the race I feel like I am too preoccupied with worrying about what I am eating, how much rest I get, how many hours I sleep, etc.  I also have a little bit of pre-race nerves that can interfere with the "magical-carefree-childlike-euphoria" that I love so much about being at Disney World.  Plus, you can wear your race bling around the parks!

Another thing for you to consider is that the week before the Princess includes President's Day, which is a very busy time at the Disney Parks.  On www.touringplans.com, they have a very accurate crowd level predictor and the week after the Princess race is supposed to be significantly less crowded than the week before.

Again, this is just a personal opinion.  We have vacationed both ways and always had a great time.  But, if I could choose, this would be my choice!

Let me know if you have any other questions!
