I’m a runner and wanted to know where I can do my morning run while at the Animal Kingdom Lodge? Or are the roads too busy to do my morning 5 miles ? I know there are treadmills in the fitness center. But are there running trails at WDW resorts?

Hey Howdy Hey Maria and welcome to planDisney!

Vacations are a great way to relax and refresh from the busy life with work, kids and so much more. Sometimes that morning run or workout is much needed to get your day started right or just to keep up with your training. You will find many options available on your vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort that we can go over that may help keep your fitness level up.

While there are running trails available at many of the resorts throughout Walt Disney World, unfortunately, there are no trails at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. As you mentioned Maria, you will have access to Zahanati Massage and Fitness Center during your stay. There you will find various equipment for your cardiovascular training. The roads around the resorts do get busy and there are no designated running paths, so that could get a little dangerous and I have heard that Disney does not want runners on the roads because of this.

If you did want to find a trail on Disney property to run on, several options are close. Disney's All-Star Movies Resort, Disney's All-Star Music Resort and Disney's All-Star Sports Resort have a 1-mile long trail that connects the three resorts and will give you great morning views. Disney's BoardWalk Inn, Disney's Beach Club Resort and Disney's Yacht Club Resort have several trails around them that are super nice and will give you great views of Disney's BoardWalk. These options are closer to your resort at Animal Kingdom Lodge however you will need a rideshare or if you do have access to a vehicle during your stay, a quick trip to any of these locations will give you access for a quick visit to get a run in during your stay.

I hope this information helped give you some options for keeping your miles up during your stay. If you have any further questions, please feel free to let us know, we are always happy to help!

    Have a Magical day,
