    Hiya Louise,

Welcome back to planDisney! We are so happy that you are here and that we get the opportunity to help you plan your upcoming magical summer vacation! I like your style, Louise! I am always a fan of doing research before your visit, especially when it comes to things you need to pack. I frequently return from vacation with so many items of merchandise that I just couldn’t leave behind, so I need extra space in my luggage.

Great question about water shoes! When I went to Blizzard Beach last year, I was happy to have shoes on when the concrete got a little warmer. As you pointed out, yes, you can wear water shoes at Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. I confirmed with a Cast Member that there are no specific restrictions on the types of water shoes you can wear at the water parks. However, I wanted to bring to your attention the "Know Before You Go" guidelines for the water parks. They state that swim attire that has buckles, rivets, zippers, or exposed metal is not allowed on any of the attractions, so if your shoes have buckles or zippers, they may not be permitted. When I spoke to a Cast Member, they also wanted me to share that, depending on the attraction, like certain water slides, you may be asked to remove your shoes momentarily, and then you can put them back on when you are done with the attraction.

I hope this was helpful, Louise. Before I let you go, I wanted to share some tips for traveling to the water parks. The parking lots can fill up quickly during the summer, so we always recommend using complimentary transportation whenever possible. If you are taking a bus from your Disney Resort Hotel, you will need to transfer buses to get to the water parks. For Typhoon Lagoon, you will take a bus to Disney Springs and then transfer to Typhoon Lagoon. For Blizzard Beach, you would head to Animal Kingdom Theme Park and then transfer to Blizzard Beach (unless you are staying at Coronado Springs or All-Star Resort hotels, which do not require a transfer). I hope that you have the most magical vacation (be sure to check out all the Cool KIDS’ SUMMER fun), and please come back and see us if you need anything else.

    Happy Planning,

    Ashley F.
