Ahoy there, Ashley, welcome aboard planDisney!
Ah, I'm sorry a change in the weather, change in the sea, or change in life is leading to an altered course for your Disney Cruise Line vacation plans! While I WISH we were meeting under better circumstances, it's my hope to safely steer you into port!
I recently had to reschedule a sailing for my family under similar circumstances and actually had the same question! I was surprised as well, but as it was explained to me, the
cost of the Vacation Protection Plan premium goes toward protecting any specific cruise and is non-transferrable and non-cancelable, even when rescheduling a cruise paid-in-full outside the
cancellation window. While I was initially confused, after thinking about it, I realized it makes sense. Since the Vacation Protection Plan is something Guests purchase, but hopefully never use, the cost of the premium cannot be applied to the rescheduled cruise. Like most insurance, if the Vacation Protection Plan was something that was refundable or transferrable, it would definitely cost more than it does!
So, while it may have been a shock to hear that you have to purchase a new Vacation Protection Plan for your rescheduled cruise, I hope the peace of mind that it provides makes it worth the investment! Soon, you and your crew will be enjoying
everything that's included in a Disney Cruise Line vacation, without the worry that travel delays, inclement weather, injury, or other worst-case scenarios impact your sailing!
I hope that clears the way for some smooth sailing, Ashley! Thank you for your question, and if you run into any additional rough seas, please drop me another line here at planDisney!
Until then, may your anchor be tight and your compass true!
Andrew
