I'm registered for the WDW Half-Marathon in January, and have to fly home that same day. How early in the day is safe to schedule the flight?

    Hi Kristen!

This is a good question.  You should be done with the race no later than 9:30 a.m. I would allow myself at LEAST three hours of travel/check-in time at the airport.  So, I would say definitely after 12:30.

I ran the Tinkerbell half in the morning and then flew out at 2 p.m.  It worked out just fine.  I was tired, but I made sure to drink plenty of fluids and do a lot of stretching after the race, and even sitting in the terminal. (yes, I got a few stares!)

If you have a long flight, you may consider wearing some compression type socks and/or pants.  I like to wear them after a long run regardless, but they are even more beneficial if you have to be seated for long periods of time, like on a plane.

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions!
