Hey there, Zak! Welcome back to planDisney!
Fantasmic! is a quintessential ending to a Disneyland day, so I can understand wanting to make sure it lands on your itinerary! It's hard to pass up a journey through Mickey's imagination and see pretty much all of your favorite characters in one nighttime spectacular! The Fantasmic! Dining Packages are a great way to ensure a prime viewing spot, and of course, who doesn't love the experience of dining at Blue Bayou Restaurant? There is just something so special about dining under the stars (no matter what time of day it is!) and watching your fellow Guests sail away on their
Pirates of the Caribbean adventure! All that being said, I completely understand where you are coming from as things have shifted a bit when it comes to booking this specific dining package, so let's set the record straight and get you on your way!
Reservations for
Fantasmic! Dining Packages open up 60 days ahead of time. They do go quickly, so I would be ready with some fast fingers the morning of your 60-day mark! For your date in October, and this is a new update, you would secure the dining package by making a reservation directly from the
Fantasmic! Dining Package page of the Disneyland website. Previously, you would make the reservation as usual from the
Blue Bayou Restaurant page and request the Fantasmic! upgrade with your server upon arrival. When you click on "check availability" from the Fantasmic! Dining Package page, you will see there is a drop-down menu where you can select River Belle Terrace or Blue Bayou Restaurant. For Blue Bayou, you can choose any time for lunch or dinner, keeping in mind that performance times for Fantasmic! are generally at 9:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. You can double-check the
Entertainment Schedule for exact times about six weeks ahead of your arrival. One other thing to note is that after Labor Day, Fantasmic! moves to a weekends-only schedule with performances on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only. It looks like you will be in the parks on a Saturday, so this won't be an issue for you!
I'm going to toss a little pixie dust in the air and hope that you'll be enjoying a night under the stars at the Blue Bayou in October! While your dining package will include a voucher for a preferred viewing location with a great view of the show, you will still want to get there about 45 minutes ahead of showtime to secure your spot within this area. I like to bring along a blanket or something soft to sit on as you will be on the hard pavement for the show ... and a sweet treat to enjoy while we are waiting. Typically, I'll
Mobile Order some Mickey beignets from the
Mint Julep Bar to pick up as we head to our viewing location, but it's also hard to pass up some of that beloved Disneyland popcorn!
Zak, I sure hope this cleared some things up for you! If you have any more questions, we are always here for you at
planDisney!
Magic awaits!
Tara
