Welcome to planDisney, Varsha! Planning a trip to Walt Disney World Resort with your two granddaughters automagically qualifies you as one cool grandmother! It seems there is always something magical going on at Walt Disney World. My husband and I used to love to go the week after Thanksgiving as the crowds were low. That secret got out, and now it is busy. There are a few times that tend to be a bit quieter than others. (Let's just keep this between the two of us, okay?)One of my favorites is the end of January through the middle of February, after the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend and before the runDisney Princess weekend (usually the end of February). Nestled between these two events, the crowds are usually lighter and the weather is quite pleasant. Between the series of Spring Breaks (end of April) and Memorial Day weekend also seems to be a good time to go, before the summer crowds heat up. When I was younger and lived near Orlando, the last weeks in August had lighter crowds because southern schools had started back. The week after Labor Day was golden as both the southern and northern students were back in class. The first half of October can be another good option, as long as you avoid the holiday weekend. And while I said the week after Thanksgiving has caught on, the first two weeks in December have all the magic of the holiday season without the crowds in full force yet. There are so many events throughout the year that may also weigh into when you would like to visit.
The Disney Resorts Collection hotels are not yet available to reserve for 2026, but you may want to keep an eye out for special offers as your date gets close to arrange a stay in the magic. Please come back to planDisney with any other questions as you plan your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth. We are here to help make it all a breeze.Have a magical day!Jana
