I'm planning to visit WDW this summer with my hubby and my daughters 3.5 and 6.5......We want to come in August but I keep hearing how busy it is and how hot and humid it is....can you shed some light for me....TIA

    Hi Annalisa:

My family has been traveling to Walt Disney World for years over various months.  I'll be honest, Florida can be hot and humid in August, especially mid-day.  While I can't guarantee what the weather will be like, in general, temperatures in mid-August hover in the high 80's and even can reach into the low 90's.  Many areas of Disney World have seating and shade, and many attractions are indoors with air conditioning, which helps make heat outside more bearable. Disney World also has wonderful Resort pools where you can cool down if staying on property as well as two Water Parks.  To help beat the heat, my family tends to hit the Parks early to enjoy rides.  Then we take shelter and eat around noon when the sun tends to be the hottest, and return to the Parks later in the afternoon as the day starts to cool off.

As for crowds, Disney World tends to be more crowded when schools are out of session.  Parts of August may be considered a bit crowded but I wouldn't characterize August as having unbearable crowds.  You'll find that Disney World gets less crowded as August progresses as early school activities (such as sports) tend to call practices in mid-to-late August and certain schools (particularly in the South) start school for the year.

    Enjoy your vacation.
