As we say here on Batuu - Bright suns, Katherine and welcome to planDisney!
As I write to you directly from
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, I can't help but look around at all of the travelers who have made their way over to this planet in search of adventure under its three suns and imagine what this place will be like in two solar cycles. After reading your query I couldn't pass up the opportunity to go on a hunt for anyone in search of special parts in this part of the galaxy, so I took it upon myself to venture over to speak with the
Droid Depot Cast Members about what you're looking for:
- On this visit, there were unfortunately no black R6-series domes available as we looked upon the vast array of parts slowly passing by on the conveyor belts, through there were some R5-series domes in black and orange as well as a few black and silver C-series domes among them. The Cast Member overseeing the operation mentioned that she hadn't seen them in some time, but would not say whether or not they were discontinued - only that shipments of new parts could never be guaranteed and subject to availability.
- Seasoned builders have been known to travel over to the Droid Depot located within Disneyland Park where different variations or varieties may still be available compared to their counterparts over here at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The helpful citizens of Batuu also recommended that it may be useful to bring a photo with you of anything that you might want them to try to track down for you just in case builders had their hearts set on a particular part.
I will say that so much can happen within the span of two years if recent events and
the newest exciting droid developments are any indication, so there's really no telling whether you'll find any of the particular parts you require by the time you make it out here. There are however many droidsmiths and smugglers out there that you can connect with on fan groups online who just might end up having the part you need to complete your R6-series astromech unit! I've also witnessed fellow builder swapping domes between themselves so this might be a great chance to engage with others in the droid-building community! In the meantime, I also recommend keeping an eye out on the
Disney Parks Blog where planDisney Panelists submit our tips, photos and video content alongside updates to Star Wars experiences like new parts, supplies or "scrap metal" coming to merchandise locations in Black Spire Outpost.
May you one day find the droid you're looking for!
