Hi there I'm planning a value vacation to disney, my first trip to disney. I have a 7 year old any tips? When is the best time of year to visit on a budget, without weather problems and long line ups.

    Hi, Tabitha!

The best times of the year to travel to Walt Disney World on a budget will be in September and January.  These are generally the slowest months as kids are just getting back to school after summer and winter breaks.   Personally, I prefer September since Florida can get a bit chilly in January.

To optimize your savings, keep checking for Special Offers.  These offers can range from discounted rooms to free dining, so you can really save money.  Your best value on accommodations will be at a Value Resort.  My favorite Value is Pop Century.  Book a Standard Room for the most economical room.

When purchasing your park tickets, stick with a base Magic Your Way ticket.  Avoid add-ons like park hopping and water parks.  While these options are nice, they can really add to the price of your ticket.

Plan ahead!  Know your budget for souvenirs, and stick to it!  Before leaving home, pack autograph books, rain ponchos, and sunscreen to avoid paying for these items at the parks.  You will get these much cheaper at home.

I hope this is a start!  Once you decide on your dates, keep us posted so we can help you plan your magical vacation!   Good luck!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
