Hello! I’m planning a vacation to Disneyland in January. I’m I wondering if there are historic dates for the past few years when haunted mansion closes from the holiday overlay and switches back to normal. Thanks

    Hello, Cyndi!

Thank you for sending your question to planDisney. January is a great time of year to visit Disneyland Resort! Most kids are back in school after their winter breaks, and spring break is still a ways off. I always bring warm clothes for the evenings, as well as a poncho and umbrella in case of rain.

The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite attractions at Disneyland! It is currently closed for refurbishment while the surrounding grounds are metamorphized into an expanded queue and Madame Leota works on materializing a new retail shop. Haunted Mansion closed for refurbishment on January 22, 2024, and a reopening date has not been announced yet. In previous years, Haunted Mansion usually closed while Jack Skellington gathered his friends and holiday decor in mid-January, and it often reopened a couple of weeks later. Given the extended closure of Haunted Mansion this year, it is hard to say what will happen in January 2025. I recommend watching the Disney Parks Blog and Disneyland social media pages for reopening information.

If you enjoy running, you may want to sign up for the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend! This runDisney event takes place from January 30 - February 2, 2025, and registration begins on June 11, 2024. I participated in the Disneyland races for the first time in January. It was an incredible experience! Running through my favorite vacation destination with thousands of other Guests was so much fun. I cannot wait to do it again!

Cyndi, I hope you can climb aboard a Doom Buggy and travel into the ghost-filled realm at Haunted Mansion during your trip next year! We hope to see you real soon!

    Be aware of hitchhiking ghosts!
