When I made my first trip to Walt Disney World I knew so little about the resort I did not even realize I should be overwhelmed. I arrived expecting a typical amusement park with a few fun rides. I was quite stunned! Your first trip will provide you and your son memories for decades. Let's take a few steps toward planning your trip.
To help with your budget check the
Special Offers page and consider a
Value Resort. These hotels are bright, fun, and provide all the advantages of staying on Disney property. Guests staying in a Walt Disney World Resort enjoy free transportation to and from the parks, great locations, and Extra Magic Hours. These are additional times the theme parks are open only for resort guests. Also staying on property will allow you to create a
Disney Vacation Package which can allow savings and the addition of a
Disney Dining Plan.
Six days is a good choice for a stay at Walt Disney World. You can visit all the theme parks, relax at your resort, and try a water park. Some time at Disney's Blizzard Beach or Disney's Typhoon Lagoon would be perfect with an eleven year old boy. We always visit the Magic Kingdom first and plan our itinerary based on Extra Magic Hours and which attractions we are most desperate to ride.
As you continue to plan I would love to help you with any questions you have about resorts, theme parks, dining, or any minor issues you think of. Your first trip should be magical!
