I'm planning a trip for over a year out. When do dates begin to open up for 2027? Do they open up by single month or multiple months?

Welcome back to planDisney, Megan. I'm so glad to answer another question for you today.

I love your early planning energy! That's really how you snag the good stuff and start making the most out of your trip. For 2027 vacations, bookings will likely open sometime around May 2026. This is a pattern, not a promise, but late spring/early summer is typically when we see reservations open up for the following year. When Disney drops a new year of availability, they typically release a big chunk all at once. January through October usually become available right away, and then November and December open up later in the year, often late summer or early fall. So if your dates fall in the first 10 months of 2027, you'll probably be able to book as soon as that May 2026 window goes live. If you're eyeing the holiday season, expect a second wave of availability down the road.

I have a few pro tips to make it easy! Decide which resort category you're leaning towards, and make a shortlist of your favorites so you're ready to pounce when your dates appear. If you're booking a vacation package, you can hold it with a small deposit and pay the balance later, which is nice for spreading out costs. You can also secure room-only reservations if you'd rather add tickets down the line. If an amazing special offer comes out after you book, you can modify your reservation to apply it, subject to availability, so it's totally fine to lock in your plans first and chase discounts later.

When the time comes, hop onto the Walt Disney World website right at release, or call Disney Resort Hotel Reservations if you prefer a Cast Member's help. Availability can move quickly on popular room types and views, especially around school breaks, runDisney weekends, and holidays. Once you're booked, you'll have plenty of time to dream up the fun details like dining reservations 60 days before your check-in, Lightning Lane strategy, and all the pixie-dusted extras.

Have a magical day, Megan, and happy planning!
