I'm planning a trip to WDW for my son's third birthday - I'm trying to understand whether buying tickets and dining plan now will reduce resort cost, or if I get a discount on these for staying at a Disney resort (and so can purchase those later)?

    Hi Maria,

Only Disney resort guests who purchase a theme park ticket-inclusive vacation package (or Disney Vacation Club members staying on points) are eligible to participate in the Disney Dining Plan.  Therefore, there is no discount on the Plan for resort guests.  Similarly, participating in the Disney Dining Plan does not yield discounts on resort rates.

You can add the Disney Dining Plan to your reservation up to 48 hours before your arrival. Beyond that point, purchasing the Dining Plan will not be an option.  I heartily recommend that you give the Disney Dining Plan a try.  I have found that it is an incredibly economical way to feed a family while on vacation.  I think you'll enjoy the Plan's flexibility and ease of use.

When the time comes, please wish your son a happy birthday from the entire Walt Disney World Moms Panel.  I hope he has the most magical birthday celebration ever!
