Im planning a trip to WDW for my son's 1st birthday this September 2013. Does anyone have any suggestions and if i need to make reservations anywhere?

Hello Crystal!  Welcome to the Disney Parks Mom´s Panel.

September is a great month to visit Walt Disney World.  Weather will be hot, humid and with occasional showers, still very comfortable for touring parks.  Crowd levels are usually the lowest of the year and you will find the best special offers and resort prices.

Walt Disney World is the perfect place to celebrate birthdays and your can plan an awesome experience just for your family.  Make sure to start with a happy birthday button.

If budget allows, consider staying at one of the resorts connected to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot by Disney´s monorail.  Disney´s Polynesian Resort and Contemporary Resort allow the best travel times to Magic Kingdom and Epcot - the parks my family visits the most.
With small children it is recommended to take midday naps at the resort.

To celebrate your son´s birthday at the parks, it will be great to tour him at a slow pace so that he can enjoy lots of new experiences - smells, sounds and visuals that will capture all his attention.  I also recommend visiting parks at night, as it is a totally different experience than during the day.

Character dining is one of my kid´s favorite activities at Walt Disney World and it is recommended to book advance reservations with up to 180 days in advance.
Make sure to make the most of Disney´s Baby Care Centers at all theme parks and bring your own stroller - can be carried into Disney buses, boats and monorail.

Happy to help you plan a magical celebration at Walt Disney World.
Hope to hear again from you.
