I’m planning a trip for my retirement in January of 2025. My party includes 7 adults and one child who will be 3 when we travel. When can I book a resort?

    Shari,

Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!

Congratulations, in advance, for your impending retirement! It is important to celebrate such important milestones, and I can think of no better way to do so than to go be a kid at Walt Disney World!

While there is no official date for when Disney releases reservation packages for the following year, in the past they have done so in the late May/early June time frame. So for January 2025 you would see those coming out in late May/early June of 2024. That is when you would be able to see package prices for 2025 on the website.

But while you cannot book a package or a room-only reservation for 2025 yet on the website, you can make a resort hotel room-only reservation for up to 499 days out by contacting Disney directly. So, for reservations in January 2025, you could start booking your hotel rooms in late August 2023! This would help you secure your preferred vacation destination hotel. However, to do so you would have to call Disney directly at 407.939.1936

I find picking the resort hotel to be the most fun part of vacation planning! I get to plan around the resort amenities, from the theme, the dining options, and the in-resort entertainment. If you don't know which resort hotel to pick, start by looking at the planDisney Pocket Guides to the resorts. These overviews can help you narrow your search down with information on transportation options, dining, and resort amenities.

    BONUS TIP
If you book a room-only reservation early, but then later see an appealing vacation package become available, you might be able to apply that package to your initial resort hotel reservation. This is not a guarantee, and it does not happen in all cases, but often you will find that it can be done. You can find Special Offers listed on the website, but I also recommend regularly checking the Disney Parks Blog, as they will often be the first place to announce any special programs.

Write me back if you have any other questions.

    Have a Magical Vacation!
