HI, I'm planning a trip in jan. 2014 and was wondering what the big difference between a value hotel(allstar sports) and a moderate hotel (port orleans-riverside) and also if there is mini refrigerators in the value hotel.

    Hi, Tonya!

    Great question!

In my opinion, one of the biggest differences between a Walt Disney World Value Resort and a Moderate Resort is the pool area. In a Value Resort, you'll find a wonderfully-themed main pool as well as one or more additional, smaller pools. They are mainly located near a food court, and there will be a pool bar situated nearby as well. At a Moderate Resort, those main pools will also feature a very cool slide and hot tub as well, and the pool bar will a separate building near the pool, rather than an attachment to the main building. This may or may not be important to you for a stay in January, although the pools are heated.

In addition, the Value Resorts will have one bus stop, which is centrally located near the lobby / food court / arcade. Moderate Resorts, on the other hand, will include additional bus stops which are located throughout the resort.

I called Disney's All-Star Sports Resort and was told that there are currently no mini-refrigerators in the rooms; however, you can request a refrigerator for your room by calling the resort. Disney's All-Star Sports can be reached by calling (407) 939-5000.

Have fun planning your upcoming visit to WDW, Tonya! Be sure to send more questions as you think of them; we love to help!
